A lot of you have been wanting to know about our own version of won-ton tacos! They are really delicious served with jasmine rice on the side!
**There is frying involved! Wonton Wrappers burn VERY fast!**
Makes about 12-14 (double recipe for more)
Shopping List:::::
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast or tenderloins
Fresh Cilantro
Small Red Onion
Fresh Limes or Lime juice
Won-ton wrappers (located in refrigerated section)
Sliced Almonds (baking aisle)
Shredded or diced slaw mix
Marzettis regular or light slaw dressing (located by lettuces and refrigerated dressings)
Panda’s Mandarin Sauce (asian food aisle)
Newman’s Seseame Ginger Light salad dressing
Prep::
1-2 hours before serving prepare slaw mix.
In large bowl combine Slaw Mix and 2-3 tablespoons of Slaw Dressing and equal parts Sesame and Ginger dressing. You can add more or less depending on how you like your coleslaw (less keeps the slaw mix crisper which is how we prefer it.)
Add about 1/4 Cup Sliced Almond (again more or less, whatever you like!)
Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
1. Add chicken to large frying pan, add about 2 cups of water and cover on medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes until internal temp is 165 degrees.
2. While chicken is cooking dice about 1/4 cup of the red onion on de-stem equal part Cilantro. Cut lime into slices. Start a deepfyer or large pot with about 2-3 inches of oil until its 350 degrees.
3. When chicken is done, drain water and start pulling the chicken apart, it should come apart easily (or move to cutting board and chop) Add chicken back to pan.
4. Add about 4-6 tablespoons of Panda’s Mandarin Sauce. (again add more if you like your chicken saucier =D) Add Diced onions and about 1/2 of the cilantro. Cook on low for about 6-8 minutes until warm and onions slightly transparent.
5. Add won-tons to fryer, fry one at a time, to get the bowl shape I take a long pair of tongs and push the middle of the won-ton down until its almost golden brown. **caution this is dangerous, grease can spatter and you can get burned, also the air above the frying oil is hot as well.**
You can also fry them flat and just flip them about 30 seconds in so both sides cook even.
Put on paper towel to drain excess grease.
6. Add chicken on top on wonton about 2-3 tablespoons per won-ton. Add slaw mix. Garnish with leftover cilantro and almond slices. Squeeze lime juice on top! ***Enjoi***
